Friday Note: April 21,
2017
Events of the Week: This week we
started an Author Study on Laura Numeroff.
·
Language Workshop: We read several if you
give books (If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, If You Give a Dog a Donut,
If You Give a Cat a Cupcake, If You give a Moose a Muffin,
and If you Give a Pig a Pancake).
We identified the characters and setting and practiced retelling the
stories.
·
Writing Workshop: We introduced series of events writing. We spent the week sequencing events in the
right order and discussing that for our writing to make sense it has to be
written in the correct order.
- Reading Workshop: Students are working
daily in Literacy Centers. While
students are working independently, I am beginning to call each student up
to read with them independently to determine their end of year reading
level.
- Word Study: We spent the week practicing
correctly forming letters.
- Math: We began a unit on solid figures (cylinder, cone, cube, and
sphere). The students enjoyed
learning about these new shapes and finding them in our classroom.
