Friday Note 4-6-18

Friday Note - 4/6/2018
Events of the Week: This week our theme was plants. Our sight word was “for”.

Language Workshop: We read different books about the parts of a plant and talked about how each part of the plant is important and has a different job. We completed various activities about the parts of a plant for the students to remember the different parts and their jobs.

Writing Workshop: We wrote sentences about plants. We also wrote about the different parts of plants. We are continuing to work on adding details to our writing. Our sentence writing is getting better every day! Continue to practice writing sentences at home.

Word Study:  Our sight word was “for”. We also worked with -ut, -un, and -ug word families. We are learning to make new words by changing the beginning sound.

Math: We worked on making 10 this week with different number pairs. We completed various activities with a tens frame and drawing pictures to check how many more we needed to make 10. We also worked on writing number sentences to match our pictures and tens frame. The students were assessed on subtraction problems within 5 and making 10 number sentences. Please practice skills at home that your student does not score proficient on. I will reassess near the end of the quarter.
