FRIDAY NOTE (9/26/14)

Events of the Week:  Our theme this week was Colors.  Our big book for the week was Rain.  We focused on naming the parts of a book (front cover, back cover and title page).  We learned the songs for the colors brown, purple, orange, and black.  Your child should be able to recognize and read the words red, green, blue, yellow, purple, orange, brown, and black.  Our predictable chart was “I like ____.” (I like purple.)  The sight word we learned was “like”.  We continued our letter study by learning the letters Cc and Hh.  Each week we are learning to identify and write new letters, along with learning the sound each letter makes.  In math, we completed our unit on measurement.  We have been using math words, such as length, longest, shortest, height, taller, capacity, weight and so on.  Ask your child to put your family members in order from tallest to shortest.

Box Top Challenge!!!  Box Top Challenge!! Time to turn in your Box Tops, Labels for Education, and your Best Choice labels. The classroom with the most submissions by October 31st will receive a classroom party!   Thanks for those that have already been sent in!!!!

 

Assessment Pages: Please continue to watch for these to be sent home.  Look over these pages carefully.  If your child needs continued practice on a skill, please work on it at home with your child. Thanks!    

Next Week:

·        Our theme will be Color Review.  We will focus on the book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?.  We will do more work with reading the color words. 

·        In math, we will begin learning about numbers 1-5.

·        We will focus on the sight word “see”.
