Friday Note 10-10-14

FRIDAY NOTE (10/10/14)

No school on Monday!!

Events of the WeekWe’ve had a busy week learning a lot of new things!  Our theme this week was fall.  We learned about informational books (nonfiction) by reading several books about the season.  We noticed that informational books usually have a table of contents, an index, a glossary, and photographs instead of drawings.  After reading informational books, we made a list of important details that we learned about fall.  We paid special attention to the changes that are happening all around us.  Our sight word was “it”.  During our interactive writing workshop, we made a book called “It is Fall”. We also learned about the letters “Kk” and “Ll”.  Don’t’ forget to practice letter and sound identification with your child at home.  Flash cards made from index cards are a great way to practice.  In math, we counted and wrote numbers 1-5.  Please practice writing these numbers with your child at home.

Our classroom snack supply is running low. Donations would be greatly appreciated. * Also we have had a lot of animal crackers lately so a bit of variety might be good. Thanks in advance.

Sight Words
Your child should be able to recognize these words within 3 seconds.  It is very important that you practice them at home with your child, as we will be adding new ones each week.
