Friday Note 10-24-14

Friday Note 10-24-14
Events of the Week:  What a busy week!  We began a Mercer Mayer author study and focused on many different Little Critter books throughout the week.  Our first Little Critter book was called All By Myself and we wrote I can sentences all week about the things we can do on our own.  On Thursday we had a lot of fun reading around the room with our stuffed animals in our pajamas!  We focused on looking for the characters and setting of the books and wrote about each in our reading journals.    Our sight word for the week was “can.”  In math, we finished our unit on comparing and ordering numbers 0-5.  We used terms like more, fewer, and as many, we learned about ordinal numbers, and we learned to read and write 0.  In addition to all our classroom activities we learned about bus safety and practiced what we learned with a real bus!

Halloween Party
Our Halloween Party will be October 31st.  We will begin changing into costumes at 11:30.  Parents are welcome to help at that time.  Parents may also start setting up for the party at this time.  At 11:45 we will parade through the school in our costumes.  The party will begin after the parade, at approximately 12:00 and last until 12:30.  Please remember to send your child’s costume to school that morning!  Do not bring it with you—you never know when you might be delayed unexpectedly.  *Special note about costumes—NO weapons of any kind allowed, please keep blood and gore to a minimum!
